X-ray services at One Nineteen Diagnostics use all-digital, state-of-the-art equipment manufactured by GE.
X-ray, also know as radiography, uses low doses of radiation to assess the quality of bone or to detect disease.
X-ray is still the gold standard for detecting fractures in bones and is used with various forms of contrast for assessing the GI tract.
X-ray involves exposing a part of the body to very small doses of radiation to produce an image of the organs or bones. When X-rays penetrate the body, they are absorbed in varying amounts by different tissues. For instance, bones are dense, so they block some of the radiation, leaving the film white or gray. Organs are less dense, so they allow radiation to pass through the tissues, appearing darker on the film.
X-ray is still widely used today to track changes in arthritis as well as to provide a road map for orthopaedic surgery.
