Pilates
Pilates Studio
The One Nineteen Pilates instructors are certified to teach introductory through advanced mat work, reformer classes, as well as the full Pilates repertoire on the studio equipment. Developed and refined over the past 70 years, Pilates is a progressive method of dynamic strengthening and stretching that lengthens and tones the body. Pilates exercises minimize joint stress and strengthen the core muscles that support and stabilize the spine. Pilates exercises teach sequential whole body movement patterns that resemble the functional movements we use in our everyday activities. Pilates-based exercises can be safely modified to meet the needs of any age or fitness level including: the serious athlete who wants to develop more coordination and balance; the weekend athlete who wants to build sports-specific strength and flexibility for injury prevention; the individual who wants to address postural imbalances and achieve a longer, leaner look; and the individual who is rehabilitating from an injury or surgery, or managing chronic pain. Mat Classes
Advanced Classes (experience required): Precision, concentration, flow, and dynamics are emphasized for a great workout. These classes begin at the intermediate level and assume a firm foundation in Pilates basics. The classic series is performed with an emphasis on transitioning smoothly from one exercise to another. Private Pilates: Private sessions are approximately 50 minutes in length and are tailored to the specific needs of the individual. One-on-one instruction concentrates on multi-joint movements that are designed to provide a balance between strength, flexibility, and stability. Sessions typically begin with breathing and body alignment education and progress to more challenging exercises for core stabilization.
